Where is it gotten from?
Shea butter is gotten from a tree called karite tree. The karite tree bears fruits which has nuts inside it, the nut is where you can find the shea butter .
What is shea butter?
Looking from the Physical aspect shea butter is yellow in colour and abit hard, looking like the hard version of butter, it has a harsh yet soft smell.
Chemically it is a solid fatty oil, it can be used both externally and internally. shea butter has medicinal properties and it has alot of good nutrients and vitamins, therefore it has been used for many years as medicine.
finding out about the amazing properties it has, it is being used for many beauty products, including the hair products.
Types of Shea butter
There are two types of shea butter, we have the raw also called the unrefined shea butter and we also have the refined shea. the refined Shea butter has been treated and mixed with other chemicals to make different products for hair and skin. The unrefined shea butter is not treated, found in it's raw form.
When using shea butter on your hair, it is best to use the raw or unrefined shea butter, which has all its nutrients intact. the refined shea butter has some of its nutrients stripped off and the added chemicals may not be good for your hair.
The major purpose of shea butter on the hair is to work as a sealant. A sealant is what is used to seal moisture into the hair. shea butter is therefore used as to seal moisture into your hair. We also have other benefits and uses of shea butter.
Benefits and Uses of shea butter.
1. shea butter Can be used as a conditioner. the purpose of a conditioner is to restore the natural oil stripped off from the hair by harsh products or the weather. shea butter with its many nutrients will restore nutrients lost back to your hair, leaving your hair shiny and healthy looking.
2. It will mend your split ends. There is no better remedy for split ends than a good trim, but if your hair doesnt have too much split ends, shea butter will help in repairing it
3. African hair is usually dry and brittle, it will amend that. As a sealant, shea butter will lock in the moisture in your hair, providing the moisture your hair needs
4. It soothes any itchy and irritated scalp.
5. It will protect your hair from sunlight because it contains a small amount of SPF.
6. It will soften your hair. Dry hair is caused by lack of moisture, as shea butter locks in moisture it will soften the hair
These are just a few points to show the benefits of shea butter, As a result of all these, there will be little hairloss and less hair loss equals better length retention.
As you can see, shea butter is one thing you should add to your hair care regimen.
Application of shea butter.
Here I am going to give you two ways of applying shea butter to your hair. one way is right after washing your hair and conditioning it, the other way is to spray water on the hair and to just rub in shea butter.
There are two ways of applying shea butter to your hair after washing and Conditioning your hair.
The first way is to shampoo and condition, rinse your hair and remove the excess water, blow dry your hair a little leaving enough moisture in it. After blow drying your hair, melt the shea butter under heat, cut your hair into sections before applying it moving from roots down to the tips, use your hand dryer to dry it completely or let it air dry, which ever your prefer.
The second way is After blow drying your hair, apply the solid shea butter onto your scalp, and theb rub it down to the tips, your don't have to be careful in making sure it eeaches every strand of your hair, because it will eventually. Heat up your hair with a hand dryer, drying it completely or let it air dry.
Why use other expensive product which are so refined to the point where some of the chemicals can cause harm to your hair when you can use the raw and more beneficial things
