So we know hair grows about 0.5inches a month that is 6inches a year. Let me notify you that there will be a month in the year about two or three months where the growth of the hair reduces drastically to about 0.1inches a month. Basically we can now say for a year the hair would grow about 4inches longer.
You might be wondering how you are still stuck at 6inches, it should be longer by now.
There are many factors that could have stopped your hair length rentention. The question is, your hair is growing but are you retaining the new length?
If you are not, then I'm going to tell you a few obvious reasons that you may not have taken serious. When it comes to the hair, take it serious, the african hair needs alot more care than any other type of hair.
Reasons You are not Retaining Length
1. Hair care products.
You might be using too little or too much. Depending on the type of hair care product, knowing the amount to use is very important.
For example. When is comes to moiturizers, I'd tell you to use abundantly, because the african hair is dry and needs all the moiture it can get, much so if you live in the very sunny places.
When it comes to hair relaxers, I'd say limit your amount because, when used on the hair, the appearance is good, but what its doing to your hair aint so good
You might be using the wrong hair care products too. Not all hair products made are made for your hair type. Try and see what's good for you, if it doesnt work, drop it immediately, if it works, go on with it
2. You hair is breaking.
Yeah, what's with a little breakage? We can't possibly prevent the hair from even a little breakage, that's fine, but when you see you hair is breaking so much, then you know you have to worry.
Yeah lets apply simple math to the hair. 1+1=2. Yh we know that, but the problem is 1-1=0. What I'm saying is... hair growth + hair loss = stuck hair. So if you're hair is growing and your hair is breaking at the same rate, maybe even more, then you are either going to have your hair stuck at a length, or even have shorter hair.
Know what is causing your breakage. Split ends could be the reason. If it is, there aint no more effective way than trimming off those ends, I know it's hard but those 2inches got to come off, months from now, you'd be happy you did the trim.
It could be your hair products. Some hair products could leave your hair dry, making it prone to breakage.
3. You are following someone's hair care routine and regimen.
Not all hair types are the same, even if it looks so very similar in appearance or texture. It works for a friend doesnt mean it must work for you.
She washes her hair twice a week doesnt mean you should wash your hair twice a week. She uses virgin olive oil conditioner doesnt mean it's going to work for you. She uses coconut oil as her deep conditioner doesnt mean it must work for you.
Your friend found what worked for her, I think it's time you found out for yourself and for your hair, your own hair care routine and regimen.
4. Your hair is not protected.
The tips of your hair is not as strong as the roots. So protect those tips, keep it out of sight, I know you want to flaunt that hair but keeping your the tips out of sight, away from contact is for the best.
Manipulate your hair less. If you are the type that likes touching your hair, I suggest you keep your hair under a weave or wig.
