What is the hot oil treatment?

The hot oil treatment as the name implies, is self explanatory. It's basically to heat up any oil of your choice and apply it to your hair.

You can heat up the oil in a microwave, on the gas but I would recommend heating up the oil in a bowl of hot water, so that we can preserve the nutrients.

Putting damaged Oil without it's nutrients on your hair is simply a waste of your precious time

The purpose of hot oil treatment?
Hot oil is done to restore moisture to the hair, if you have dry damaged hair, hot oil is going to give it a soft conditioned look, when you haven't even conditioned it with a conditioner.
The hot oil will repair weak and damaged hair.

How does the hot oil work?
The reason we heat up the oil is so that the heat from the hot oil opens up the cuticles, allowing the oil itself to be able to penetrate, allowing it to give its nutrients to the hair.

Do you need the hot oil treatment?
The hot oil treatment, is healthy for the hair, it has no side effects, so if you have dry hair, then go for the hot oil treatment.
You can decide to do the hot oil treatment, once a week, once in two weeks or once in a month, depending on the texture of your hair,  so listen to your hair to know what it needs.

What oil is used?

You can decide to get the already made hot oil treatment at the beauty store, all you need to do is follow the instructions in its package.

You can also chose to get your own oils, you can use a mixture of oils like, coconut oil, castor oil, olive oil, jasmine oil, jojoba oil etc.

Get as much oil as your hair needs, depending on thickness and length, to cover it from roots to tips.

How to do the Hot oil Treatment

1. Place your oil into a small saucepan and let it heat up for a few seconds, just enough to let it get warm but not too hot. If the oil gets to hot, then let it cool down.

2. I don't recommend using a microwave, we don't want out nutrients in the oil destroyed

3. Get an application bottle like the one for your hair dye, place the oil into the bottle.

4. Apply the oil to your scalp, moving from roots to tips, be careful not to put too much so it doesn't start dripping all over you.

5. You can massage your hair, making sure the oil got to every part, we don't want any hair left out, any hair left out will be weaker than the rest.

6. Place a plastic cap over your head.

7. You can sit under the dryer to let the oil penetrate for about 10 minutes.

8.  Rinse the oil out, rinse thoroughly, rinse with luke-warm water so that your pores remain sealed, using cold water might be too cold for you, using hot water will open up your pores making your hair frizz out.

9. Do no shampoo your hair, we want the effects of the hot oil to remain in your hair, but if you feel your hair is still too oily, then you can use a mild shampoo.
