Dont think for one moment that just because your hair is under a weave, you are free to go. If you thought so, oh how wrong you were.
Having a weave on is one of the best time to care for your hair so it grows. Now your hair doesnt start growing faster, but as there is less manipulation to the natural hair, you hair has the chance to retain length. When you don't take care of the hair, that new length will break off.
First of all you have care for your hair before putting on the weave, leavin your hair in good condition. Shampoo your hair anr condition it properly, apply deep conditioner and moisturizer. Make sure the hair is clean and product free that could clog up your hair, causing dryness, dandruff and ichy scalp.
How to care for you hair
1. Do not leave your weave longer than 6weeks.
2. While braiding the hair, watch how the pattern goes so its not difficult to find later on
3. Do not let the braids to be tight, tell your hairstylist, tight braids puts the hair on stress, that could result in breakage.
4. Shampoo and condition your leave out once a week. The leave out is the hair that doesnt go under the weave, the hair you kept out.
5. Deeply clean your scalp once in two weeks. Two weeks because your hair is not exposed to the surroundings when under a weave. However if you are the active type I recommend washing it once a week.
6. Try not to apply chemical or too much heat to your leave out as it could cause breakage.
7. Moisturize your hair daily.
8. If you are going to reuse your weave then make sure your wash it too as dirty weave will cause breakouts on the skin.
